Early morning transport from the hotel to the port city of Fethiye. Start the trail at the marina as you enjoy a breathtaking view of the Mediterranean. Ascend towards the ruins of the ancient town of Fethiye, where you’ll pass through a magnificent ancient theatre and old Lycian tombs. Marvel at the incredible Hellenistic architecture before following the trail to an Old Greek cobbled road, leading you through pines and descending into the Kayakoy valley.
Here, we will have our lunch before exploring the ghost town, which now remains after the population exchange of 1923. Walk the Greek cobblestones streets and wander through abandoned homes, churches, and streets before continuing to Oludeniz. Oludeniz (Blue Lagoon) is an idyllic beach where the blue sea meets green pine trees, and it is here in the lagoon’s warm embrace that our day’s walk will end.
You will be transported from Oludeniz to Kayakoy for a night in Villa Rhapsody.
Meals: B, L, D
On the 3rd day, we will start at Ovacik and hike the Babadag Mountain. This trail will traverse the high slopes of the Babadag, where you will enjoy breathtaking views of the Blue Lagoon while savoring the fresh air given off by the mountain’s large variety of fauna. The trail will then take us to Faralya overlooking the sheer cliffs down to Butterfly Valley for a stunning view of the sunset.
We will spend the night in Montenegro Motel, Faralya.
Meals: B, L, D
From Faralya, our hike will begin at Kabak with scenic views over the sea before ascending to the mountain village of Alinca. The Lycian Way from Alinca follows narrow paths with deep cliffs and gives you a theatrical view over the sea. Follow the trail to the virtually untouched ancient site of Sidyma, where Dodurga village was built among the city’s remains. Watch how the villagers have cleverly reused the pillars in their houses, and enjoy the decorative Roman period tombs for which the town is renowned.
The next stop is the village of Gey (official name is Yediburunlar), which sits above old stone terraces and the towering cliffs of the Seven capes. We will spend the night here in Muhtars house (Village house).
Meals: B, L, D
From Gey, the trail will take us through one of the wildest sections of the Lycian Way. Follow the path to the Village of Bel and enjoy stunning views of the mountains, forests, and the Mediterranean Sea during your walk to the village. Here we will have a tea break before following the tarmac road to the trail in Belcegiz, the occasional home of local shepherds, which will lead us down the mountain to the small village of Gavuragili.
From Gavuragili, we will be transported to Patara for an overnight stay in Flower Pension.
Meals: B, L, D
Our walk will start at a wall that carries a Roman engineered stone aqueduct that fed the ancient port of Patara. Admire the intact piece of Roman architecture before following the trail through fields, meadows, and pine forests for a taste of the fresh rural Turkey air. Beyond the woods, the track will give us stunning views over the Xanthos Delta, the Patara ruins, and the Mediterranean Sea.
We will then follow the waymarked trail to the ancient city of Patara for a comprehensive tour of its well-preserved ruins. Explore Patara’s grand monuments, including a 5000-seat theatre, the restored bouleuterion (the city’s parliament), and a colonnaded street flanked by re-erected columns. Other impressive pieces of Roman architecture in the ancient city include the 2nd century AD triple-arched Arch of Modestus, a necropolis, harbor baths, and the ruins of a Byzantine basilica, among others.
Learn the rich history of this ancient town before proceeding to the 16km Patara beach that now serves as a marine turtle conservation zone. The trek will conclude at this beautiful beach before being transferred to Kas for the night, where you will get an excellent opportunity to shop and enjoy evening entertainment.
We will spend the night at Maki Hotel in Kas.
Meals: B, L, D
We will travel from Kas to the village of Bayindir for a walk down to the coast. Trek the rocky coastline with the beautiful sea as your companion to the sheltered clove of Limanagzi. Relax at the beach before heading to a local restaurant for refreshments.
After refreshments and more time on the beach, there will be an option to ride a boat back to Kas or a walk above the Lycian tombs.
In Kas, spend the night at the Maki Hotel.
