Cappadocia Classics Tour

Our next stop will be at a site that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the No. 1 tourist attraction in Cappadocia, Goreme Open Air Museum. The museum is known for its numerous rock-cut churches and the frescoes on the churches’ walls. Despite years of damage by erosion and malicious acts, most fresco paintings still retain their beauty, and this tour will let you soak in the fascinating beauty and detail of the paintings.

Explore these ancient churches to taste medieval Christian art and enjoy the monks’ best art pieces in one particular church, The Dark Church. The church has undergone extensive restoration, and its frescoes are in excellent condition but entering the church is subject to additional admission fees.

Your tour of the region will then take you to the most unique and striking scenery in Cappadocia, Zelve, and Pasabag Valley. The fairy chimneys with their rock caps give Pasabag Valley and Zelve a moonscape topography, which makes the site another major attraction in Cappadocia. Explore these mushroom-like columns in Pasabag Valley and extend to Zelve, where you’ll notice houses and chapels carved in the chimneys for religious purposes.

Here, you will experience the town’s pottery tradition that dates as far back as 2000 BCE. Watch a local master exude perfection at the potter’s wheel and even have a go at pottery yourself.
