Itinerary Details

Day 1Arrival in Istanbul

Touch down at Istanbul Airport and proceed to your hotel for an overnight stay. You have the option to start your Istanbul romantic experience with a nice Turkish Bath (Hamam) in the company of your spouse.

Day 2Explore grand landrmarks of the old city

Blue Mosque

On the second day, your honeymoon tour of Istanbul will officially begin at the city’s most iconic mosque, the Blue Mosque. This magnificent accomplishment of Ottoman architecture was commissioned in the 17th century by Sultan Ahmet I, who wanted to Placate Allah by building a monument that would surpass the Hagia Sophia in beauty and splendor.

It is a breathtaking building, with six beautiful minarets on the outside and decorated by striking blue Iznik tiles on the inside. Soak in the peace and endless beauty of this grand building before proceeding to another iconic construction in Istanbul, the Hagia Sophia.

Hagia Sophia

Sitting directly opposite the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia is one of Istanbul’s top attractions. This magnificent building is a blend of the architecture of two of Istanbul’s dominant historical occupants; the Byzantine and Ottoman Turks.

It started 1500 years ago as a church before being converted into a mosque in the 14th century, a museum in 1934, and a mosque in mid-2020. Thanks to the centuries of use as a place of worship by Christians and Muslims, the Hagia Sophia has adapted a unique architectural style. On the outside, this 1500-year-old wonder inspires awe with its majestic grandeur, looking like someone merged a cathedral with a mosque.

On the inside, the mosque shines its full beauty on its visitors with its breathtaking decorations that are a mix of Christian and Islamic art. Explore this significant landmark with your spouse before we proceed to our next destination.

Basilica Cistern

The Basilica Cistern is the largest underground cistern in the city of Istanbul. This awe-inspiring structure was finished in 532 to supply water to the Great Palace of Constantinople and later on to Topkapi Palace. The cathedral-sized cistern can store up to 80,000 cubic meters of water delivered via a connection of aqueducts 20 km long.

Descend 52 stone steps arm in arm with your love into the cistern and enjoy its sheer symmetry and grandeur. Explore the 336 columns supporting the ceiling as the cistern’s soft lighting gives your tour of the underground basilica a romantic feel.

Topkapi Palace

Finish today with an exploration of the Topkapi Palace for a taste of the extravagance and comfort of the Ottoman royal families. This magnificent palace was the primary residence of the Ottoman Sultans for nearly 400 years before it was converted to a museum in the year 1924.

As a museum, the palace will impress you with its excellent collection of Chinese and Japanese porcelain, beautiful jewelry, and Holy relics. The rooms of the castle will give you a glimpse of the luxurious lives of Ottoman royalty, with portraits of Sultans decorating the walls of the palace. Enjoy the architectural grandeur of the oriental palace and take a romantic walk in the tranquility of the royal gardens.

Day 3Cruise along the Bosphorus and visit the colorful Spice Market

Bosphorus Cruise and Maiden’s Tower

The third day will begin at the pearl of the Bosphorus, the Maiden’s Tower. The iconic landmark was initially built in the 3rd century BCE and sat on an island at the strait’s southern entrance. Fire destroyed the original structure on multiple occasions; therefore, the current tower dates back to 1725. It currently houses a museum and a restaurant where you can sample traditional Turkish dishes with your spouse as you enjoy a magnificent view of the bay.

We will then proceed to an idyllic cruise along the Bosphorus strait. The natural strait separates the Asian and European sides of Istanbul while connecting the Black Sea with the sea of Marmara.

Cutting deep in the heart of the city, a cruise of the Bosphorus will give you scenic views of Istanbul’s hidden treasure. Enjoy breathtaking sights, including splendid palaces, ornate timber mansions, mosques, and suspension bridges as you take a slow cruise along the strait. Relish the spectacular views of iconic landmarks dotting Istanbul’s skyline, including the Ciragan Palace, Dolmabahce Palace, and the Ortakoy Mosque in the warm embrace of your love.

Nothing compliments a romantic experience more than a dolphin sighting, and if fortune favors us, you may see dolphins playfully accompanying you on your cruise.

The Spice Market

After a romantic cruise up the Bosphorus, we will descend at the famous Spice Market, also known as the Egyptian Bazaar. The Bazaar was established in the mid-17th century, where it served as the last stop for camel caravans.

In the spice market, thousands of spices and herbs are sold, giving the market a rich aroma that attracts visitors worldwide. Explore this historical market and take in its spicy aroma and tastes. The market is full of spectacular colors, making it one of the most breathtaking places on this side of the Bosphorus.

Day 4An optional tour of the quiet Princes’ Islands

Princes’ Islands Tour (Optional)

We will spend the fourth day of your tour away from the hectic life of the city in the idyllic Princes’ Islands, a chain of small islands in the Sea of Marmara. Their name results from the fact that exiled princes and other royalty were sent to the island in the Ottoman and Byzantine periods. With time, the islands became a popular resort destination for the wealthy members of the Istanbul society, leading to the development of Victorian-era cottages.

All forms of motorized transport are banned in the Islands, leaving bicycles and horse-drawn carriages as the primary form of transportation. Here, you have multiple fun and romantic options to spend the day with your loved one. First off, you can take a romantic walk along the peaceful narrow streets of the town lined by untouched pine forests and fine Victorian cottages. You can also hire bicycles and ride your way slowly through the streets, or for a more classic option, a horse-drawn carriage will make for an even more romantic experience.

Day 5Departure

You will be transferred to the city’s airport for your flight back home, although there is the option to combine this package with another destination.

FAQs

Is Princes' Island worth visiting?

After 2 days of touring around the city itself, this might be a great escape for your final day, where you will be able to enjoy cycling and strolling around the beautiful historical landmarks in full romance.

However, since this is your honeymoon, we will keep this flexible and leave it to you as well.
